d303 proposal
The St. Charles Lacrosse Club is extremely pleased to inform our members that on August 11th, a proposal will be presented before the District 303 School Board which if approved would result in the St. Charles High Schools adding lacrosse as a school sport. If approved, the intent of the schools under the current form of the proposal is that the fee for lacrosse would start at $400 per student and that this amount would be reduced over a period of approximately four years until the fee matches that of the other school sports.
Since the Club was formed in 1995 it has always been our goal that lacrosse would ultimately become a school sport and that our kids would be able to play for their respective school teams. St. Charles North and East would take over the respective boys’ teams for their schools and the girls’ Varsity and JV teams would continue to be run as co-op teams under the direction of St. Charles East Athletic Department.
While there is no certainty that the School Board will ultimately approve the measure, the odds currently seem favorable and we are very appreciative of the efforts of D303 School Superintendent, Dr. Donald Schlomann; St. Charles East Athletic Director Mike Sommerfeld, and St. Charles North Athletic Director Dan Dolney. We will be providing additional information as it becomes available.
