Club Banquet a success
The Board extends its thanks to all those members who made our Annual Banquet such a smashing success.
"It was tremendous to see such support for the Club, the players and the coaches with over 190 in attendance," says Board President John Spenard. "Your generous support allowed the Club to raise over $5,100 through the Silent Auction, the second all-time highest total for the Club!"
"Stay competitive and grow as a person and player"
To: All St Charles Lacrosse players
Fm: Head Coach Andy Thompson

I hope the summer is going well
for all of you and that you have found some time to dedicate to making yourself a better athlete and competitor. If you remember, this is what I asked for at the Banquet in my message to you all: “Stay competitive and constantly be growing as a person and player throughout the year.”
I have been keeping myself busy with traveling out to Vail to coach the Midwest Elite team as well as directing a summer lacrosse league out in Naperville. During this summer league we had 130 players from the area and about 20 STC players on the team that I was coaching. It was a great opportunity for me to get to know some of the younger players in our program and see the talents they have to offer. I assure you that I “found” at least two players who are capable of playing Varsity next season that I did not know much about before this summer.
For the Fall……Players Indoor Sports is hosting another High School Outdoor League. This is one opportunity that I am encouraging all of you at STC to sign up for if you are not participating in a fall sport. You can register online for the league. If you are in a fall sport, I encourage you to just stay focused on that sport and wait for the indoor season to get back into lacrosse.
Also, if any players are interested in trying out for the Players Travel Club team (formerly Midwest Elite), tryouts are at Players Indoor on Sept. 6. An informational meeting for parents will be held at the same time as tryouts. All travel destinations and questions will be discussed at this time. Registration for tryouts can be done online as well.
I look forward to seeing you all out on the field in the fall!

StC Quartet Battles Blue Lions, Crabs and Bears (oh my!)
Quite a weekend it was for Head Coach Andy Thompson (bottom, 2nd from left) and '08 varsity players (left to right) Brian Sullivan, Sean Brogan and Alek Szmajda, who were part of the Players Indoor Sports Centre U19 Elite team that took third place at the recent Vail Shootout in Colorado. The squad went 4-2, losing only to the eventual tourney champs and eventual runner-up.
"This was certainly a trip to remember for all our guys," says Players Coach Paul Stolzer. "In addition to some great lacrosse [there was] a whitewater raft trip down the Eagle River and a black bear confrontation in a parking garage."
Sean Brogan, who safely negotiated that "confrontation," also was one of just three middies named to the All-Tournament team. "They only took 12 players out of the 200 or so players in the tournament," says Coach Thompson. "Sean had a great tournament and deserved the recognition."
Stephen Colbert -- and Sean
Brogan -- know all about bears.
