Head Coach Andy Thompson has been involved with the St Charles Boys Lacrosse Club for many years, first as a player, then as a member of the coaching staff, and since 2007 as our Head Coach.
Under Coach Thompson, the Varsity has reached the semifinals of the state lacrosse playoffs three years in a row; has won 47 of 59 games, including 22 of 23 conference contests; has sent ten of its graduating seniors to NCAA lacrosse programs (with a further four current seniors also bound for NCAA lacrosse); and has seen 28 varsity players earn All-Conference Honors, as well as five All-State awards, two All American awards, and an Academic All American award.
Coach Thompson himself has also been recognized, earning the DuPage 11 Conference "2006 Freshman Coach of the Year” award after leading the combined JV/Freshman teams to a very successful 2006 campaign.
Prior to being named Head Coach in 2007, Coach Thompson served as Assistant Coach for the Varsity Team in 2005, and Head JV Coach in 2004. That season, his first as a lacrosse coach, Coach Thompson led the St Charles JV to an unblemished 10-0 conference championship season, and an overall record of 16-5. The squad also capturd the inaugural Rocks on the Fox tournament.

and Track & Field, was recipient of the Pete Langhorst Award given to the football player best exemplifying the character and dedication coaches most value, and captained the Track & Field team his senior year.
During his college career, Coach Thompson also was recognized by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin as a recipient of the Mearle Chapman Award given to the outstanding student-athlete.
Coach Thompson is a 1999 graduate of District 303 where he was a three-year starter for the Varsity Lacrosse team and was the Club’s very first All-Conference Player. During his tenure, he was recognized twice as the Club’s Offensive Player of the year, and was a team captain. He also was a standout player on the Football and Track & Field teams, where
he was All-Conference and All-Area at the wide receiver position.
At the time Coach Thompson was named Head Coach, the Board had this to say:
"As his many accomplishments demonstrate, Coach Thompson brings to the Club a wealth of experience and abilities. His achievements repeatedly exemplify a tradition of winning and achievement, but more importantly, a knowledge of the dedication a player must possess and demonstrate to succeed, and the proven ability to lead a group of young men to succeed in their efforts both on and off the field of play." |
