StC firepower not enough vs Neuqua Valley
The St. Charles East Boys Varsity lax team dropped a hard-fought game to Neuqua Valley earlier this week, 14-9. While the team was unable to notch its first win of the season, it was not due to a lack of effort nor offensive firepower. The nine StC goals were the most surrendered by Neuqua Valley this year. Stephen Link led the scoring with a three-goal “hat trick." Matt O’Brien and Connor Ryan pitched in with two tallies each, Liam Hooper and Alex O’Brien added one goal apiece, and Tim Canning led the team with two assists. On defense, Will De Bord anchored the back line and put on a ground ball clinic by out-hustling and out-muscling Neuqua Valley players each time the ball was loose. Overall, the team is improving with each game and should see a winning streak developing soon. This weekend’s inaugural “Cross Town” Classic vs. St. Charles North would be an ideal time for the Saints to collect their first victory. Saturday is a historic day for St. Charles Lacrosse and the game should not be missed. This rivalry has all the ingredients needed for it to rank among other classics such as Bears vs. Packers, Alabama vs. Auburn, and Ali vs. Frazier. Go Saints!
