This spring Tyler played lacrosse with the Purdue University Club team. Playing in the CCLA Division-A league, the Boilermakers finished 4-7. Their schedule included Illinois and Indiana from the Big Ten as well as Buffalo and Pittsburgh from “out east”.
The Boilermakers' spring roster included seven players from DuPage 11 conference teams St Charles, Neuqua Valley, Wheaton Warrenville South and Naperville Central.
“College club lacrosse is a little different from high school," says Tyler. "Attending practices and games are ‘optional.' However, the more you attend, interact with the guys and improve your skills….the more playing time you’ll get during games.
"In college," he continues, "the Coach is basically a figurehead; the team is run by the upperclassmen captains. It is a lot more fun because only the players who really want to be there show up on a regular basis.
"Lastly, the team is a little closer-knit because everyone goes to dinner after practice and hangs out with each other on the weekends.”
Ty is in the prepharmacy program at Purdue and hopes to get accepted to their pharmacy school in early 2008.
