In Memory of Tyler Brett Caruso

The St Charles Boys Lacrosse Club is honored to be the recipient of a generous donation from The Tyler Brett Caruso Memorial Fund. Half of the donation helped fund the varsity's Spring Break trip to North Carolina, and half helped fund the Club's general operations this season.
Tyler was the older brother of varsity middie Cameron Caruso, and the son of Marilyn and Tony Caruso.

Concert Remembers Tyler Caruso
On Thursday, May 31, students at St. Charles East and St. Charles North high schools remembered Tyler Brett Caruso, former student, athlete, musician and friend, with a memorial concert in Lincoln Park in St Charles.
Sponsored by the student councils from both schools, with support from the Downtown St. Charles Partnership and the St. Charles Park District, the concert showcased the talents of former StC Lax player and coach Pete Steele, as well as Pat Collins (older brother of current StC Lax player Andrew Collins), Cody Clausen, the St. Charles East Jazz Trio, and others who remember ed Caruso with their music and words.
“Tyler was a student adviser on the board of the Downtown St. Charles Partnership, and had a real desire to make a difference in the organization, the downtown, and the world,” St. Charles North student Aaron Berry told The Daily Herald. “Although his life was cut short, he succeeded in so many things.”
Added St Charles East student Ellen Bartindale, "We feel strongly about carrying on the tradition of remembering Tyler."
Tyler died unexpectedly of apparent cardiac arrest while spending the day at a beach on July 14, 2002, at the age of 17. He was set to graduate from St. Charles East in 2003.
Tyler's commitment to family, friends, school and volunteer service touched many lives. He was a student leader devoted to the betterment of his school and community. He was student council executive board president and defensive captain of the varsity football team. He was a member of the St. Charles East jazz workshop and wind ensemble and a peer leadership adviser. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta (National Math Honor Society) and project director of HOPE. He achieved Upstate Eight Academic All-Conference and ranked in the top five percent of his class.
The Tyler Caruso Scholarship Fund annually recognizes outstanding students from both St. Charles high schools. To date, 14 scholarships have been awarded. This year’s recipients are Lisa Kibilowski and Caleb Clausen from St. Charles East and Stefanie Gutierrez from St. Charles North.
