The Club Board is pleased to announce that Coach Paul Stolzer has joined the Varsity staff.
Coach Stolzer already is well-known to many of our players and parents: he has coached at Neuqua Valley and Benet Academy (where his 2008 squad won the state Lacrosse Cup championship), and continues to coach the Players Travel Club team (formerly Midwest Elite) based at Players Indoor Sports in Naperville, where he is General Manager/VP.
"I'm obviously very excited about coming to St. Charles," says Coach Stolzer. "I not only have the opportunity to work with my friend and fellow coach, Andy Thompson, but also to work with a team that is a viable contender for a state championship."
Coach Stolzer knows something about championship teams. After graduating from Uniondale High School on Long Island in New York, he attended Farleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ, where he was a four-year starter at attack for the D3 FDU Devils from 1974 to 1977.
In 1974, the Devils were champions of the ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Association) and in 1977, the squad competed in the NCAA playoffs, the only such appearance for FDU.
Coach Stolzer was the team's MVP in 1977, but it was the year previous that he made perhaps his most lasting mark on the program. In 1976, Stolzer recorded 84 assists, including 10 in a single game; both marks led all men's lacrosse in all divisions that year, and both still stand as tops in the FDU record books.

Coach Stolzer also still holds the career assist mark for FDU, with 164 from 1974 to '77. And his 230 total career points stood as the school record until 1984; today, it is still the fifth-best mark.Stolzer received NCAA All-American honors and, in 2006, was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.
“We are excited to have someone with Coach Stolzer’s background join our staff," says Club President Dennis McGushin. "Anytime you can attract a coach in the Chicago area that led the NCAA in assists, your program has taken a big step."
Following graduation, Stolzer coached at the County College of Morris (CCM) from 1978 to 1980. Since then, he has competed with the Midwest-Champion Chicago Lacrosse Club; in the Open, Masters and Grand Masters divisions of the Vail Tournament, and in the Centurion Division (age 50+) at the World Games in London, Ontario. He has coached at two high schools (Neuqua Valley and Benet Academy), and coached travel and elite teams drawn from the western suburbs.
"Paul Stolzer brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our program," adds Dennis McGushin. "I believe you will see an exciting offense this year with a lot of new looks."
"I've been lucky enough to coach and work with many of the St. Charles kids in the past through several fall and summer programs," says Coach Stolzer. "So I know and I'm comfortable with what we are working with. It's going to be a fun season....let's lock and load and get ready to go to work."
