Varsity vs New Trier on April 25, 2009

Few would dispute that New Trier, along with Loyola Academy, are this state's elite boys lacrosse programs.
As if their current run of four straight state championships wasn't remarkable enough, consider this: In those four seasons, only once had New Trier surrendered more than 10 goals (11, to Glenbrook South in 2005). And in only two games had it given up 10: to Brother Rice in 2005 and to Lake Forest in 2008. (Lake Forest also netted 10 goals this season in a 11-10 New Trier victory.)
So perhaps it's worth noting that in Saturday's 14-9 defeat
-- the fourth StC loss to New Trier in three years, including two state semifinals -- St. Charles scored more points against New Trier than all but three teams in the past four and half seasons.
