Benet's aggressive defense and fierce checking stymied the StC JV on Saturday afternoon in Naperville, as the JV fell 7-5 to the unbeaten Redwings.
Down 4-0 early, St Charles got right back in it with two goals from Jake Hackbarth and one from Steve Lavigne. Jared Spenard assisted on two goals, and Austin Hammer set up the other.
After Benet had scored twice to push its lead to 6-3, Charlie Smunt raced nearly the entire length of the field to score with a minute remaining in the third quarter. But Benet added another tally with seconds left in the period, and StC entered the fourth quarter down 7-4.
With five minutes left, defender John Ziegler scooped up yet another ground ball and raced down the right sideline. He found
Jake Hackbarth cutting into the middle, and Jake scored his third, and StC's final, goal of the day.
The JV next play at Naperville Central on Monday, April 17. The JV game against Geneva scheduled for Friday, April 14, has been postponed.

Austin Hammer, here passing against Oak Park earlier in the week, assisted on one of Jake Hackbarth's three goals on the day.

JV Game Help Needed
|
The JV and Freshmen squads need the help and the support of parents for game activities.
Timers At home games, two parents monitor and operate the game clock and track penalty time.
Statistics One parent is needed for home and away games to track game stats, including goals scored, assists, ground balls, takeaways, shots on goal, etc.
Video/Photos Videographers are needed to share filming duties with Jeff Forsell. Also, photos are always welcome, for the website, press purposes and general publicity.
If you can help, or want more info, please email John Spenard. |
