Balanced scoring and double-digit saves from keeper Bob Hollister propelled St Charles to its 11th victory of the season on Saturday at East Side Sports Complex.
In this rematch of Rocks on the Fox foes, StC scored first and never trailed again. But it wasn't a runaway: the game was tied three times before StC netted the winner in the 4th.
Charlie Smunt's first-quarter goal got StC started, and Chris Forsell's score off a ground ball made it 2-1 later in the second.
In the third quarter, Luke Rabelhofer knifed his way through the middle of the defense to make it 3-2.
Then, in the fourth, Andrew Collins hooked up with Jared Spenard on the wing, and Jared's spin move to the crease created the shot he needed to put StC ahead for good.
Bob Hollister was solid in goal, making kick and stick saves time and time again. The longpoles, anchored by John Ziegler, Stephen Cowperthwait, Sean Manown, Patrick McCarthy and Will Mallory, challenged the Huskies' attack and often disrupted the play. |
