An early St Charles lead melted away against a furious Neuqua Valley comeback, but Thomas Feicco's three goals in three minutes sealed the win against the Wildcats Wednesday night at St Charles East Stadium. A crowd of about 500 saw StC break its five-game losing streak to the Wildcats.
“It just started clicking,” Thomas told The Daily Herald after the game. “We needed goals so we just made plays all around. The play came from all of us.” (Read The Daily Herald's coverage here.)
Thomas finished with five goals; CJ Nemec and Vince Frantz netted a pair apiece, and Tyler Hines, Cam Caruso and Dylan Ward also scored.
The crowd included members of the area's youth lacrosse community, many of whom competed in a halftime shooting contest sponsored by Lacrosse America.
The past several years, it's either been Neuqua Valley or St Charles at the top of the DuPage 8 (now DuPage 11) Conference. In 2003, it was St Charles who won the Conference and beat Neuqua Valley twice.
In 2004, it was Neuqua Valley who won the Conference and beat St Charles twice (although the JV from that year -- many of whom are now varsity players -- beat them three times, including an overtime win in the Rocks on the Fox title game).
Last year, Neuqua Valley again took the conference and beat St Charles three times -- including in the Rocks title game.
"It's great to get a win back against them,"
Thomas told The Daily Herald.
